Enhanced Access
Out Of Hours Appointments
Get ready for a fantastic opportunity with Enhanced Access!

What is Enhanced access?

This amazing service extends your regular GP practice, giving you the convenience of evening and weekend appointments. Just remember, it's not a walk-in service , you'll need to book your appointment through your usual GP practice reception.
You can’t book directly with Enhanced Access,
but if your GP practice has set you up with an appointment, here’s everything you need to know!

Appointments
-
Monday – Friday - Appointments will take place in your local practice providing appointments until 8pm
(Times and dates may vary with each practice)
-
Saturdays - 09:00am – 17:00pm

Appointments will be available to book 14 days in advance.

How to book an appointment
Enhanced access appointments must be scheduled by your GP practice reception team. Please inform them that you're interested in checking the availability of out-of-hours appointments. They'll be able to assist you further the booking process.
How to cancel your enhanced access appointment
If you need to cancel your appointment, please reach out to your registered GP practice. An appointment reminder will be sent to you beforehand, which will include a link for cancellations in case your practice is closed.
We kindly ask that you inform us as soon as possible if you think you cannot attend, so we can offer the appointment to someone else.
Thank you for your cooperation.
What can I expect
You can expect a similar service and experience to when you visit the GP practice you are registered for. It is unlikely, though, that you will be seen by a member of your own practice’s team. You will be seen by a fully qualified and experienced GP, Nurse or Healthcare Professional.
Will the GP or other healthcare professional i see have access to my medical records during my appointment?
With your consent, your medical record will be available to the Healthcare Professional that sees you, to ensure that they have the information they need to give you the best possible care.
Your consultation will be recorded in your medical records.

What should I do if I cannot get an appointment through my GP practice?
If your GP practice is closed, and you cannot book an appointment with the Enhanced Access Service,
please use the NHS 111 service to contact the Out-of-Hours service if you urgently need non-life-threatening medical help or advice.

When should I call 111?
-
You need medical help fast, but it’s not a 999 emergency
-
You think you need to go to A&E or need another NHS urgent care service
-
You don’t know who to call or you don’t have a GP to call
-
You need health information or reassurance about what to do next
If urgent care Is required, please call 111 for further advice.

What if I think my need is life-threatening?
For a medical emergency, such as a suspected heart attack or stroke, you should always call 999.
